Another day (:
Hey all ☺
Today we left the house at around 12 plus.
That’s cause Gina was trying to finish up the last entry.
Which has by the way, around 50 photos.
And, Joey and I were watching the Jerry Springer Show.
I don’t think we have it in Singapore.
It’s sorta like a show where people quarrel openly.
Jerry Springer asks questions to fuel the quarrel.
And the audience gets to voice their point of view on the issue at hand.
Yesterday’s episode was on the topic:
“Dumb your lover…You’re mine.”
That is the exact title of that particular episode.
Well, the title speaks for itself.
You should get the idea what the whole show is about.
There was a lot of vulgarity as each party lashed at the other.
One almost escalated into a fight. And the other actually fought.
Pretty Interesting to see.
Of it all, I think Jerry Springer’s final words made the most sense.
He said, “Loving doesn’t need convincing”. And of course, more stuff.
But that sentence stood out.
You don’t need to convince someone to stay by your side if he/she loves you.
Those who want their "lovers" back probably deserve better.
Well, interesting stuff huhh.
Oh well, after that, we headed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art,
So cool.
They had like sections displaying sculptures, paintings, furniture and photos from different time periods and countries.
There was Medieval Art, Modern Art, Greek and Roman Art, Egyptian Art and so on,
There were so many different sections, we had to choose.
And we spent the entire afternoon there.
Before we went home and meet Gina’s aunt (Agnes) and her friends for dinner.
I have to add though. I think we are too young to appreciate the displays.
Like, some things I saw made me pretty excited because of what I have learnt in Gothic Literature.
But the bulk were foreign and difficult to appreciate.
Overall though, I enjoyed it.
Because I’ve always wanted to go to a painting gallery, but never got around doing so.
Gina couldn’t really enjoy because she had a slight headache.
And Joey was trying to rationalize some abstract art.
Rather cute.
Egyptian Art:
Their tombs! We actually got to see one before our very eyes.
They had like, different sizes for different people.
Cool huh.

These kinda cute looking bottle were used to store the internal organs of those being mummified.

This is Egyptian craft. They made these little things, in the shape of baboons, monkeys, buffalos and frogs and sold them.

This is what they wear before they were put into their tombstones.
The Egyptians had to look good no matter what.

Ohh! My dear lit friends.
Does this remind you of something?
Haha.

Gross! Some hair thing.
Probably should use it for some horror movie.

Medieval Art:
Rather ornate.

Painted glass windows.
Reminded me of Gothic architecture stuff.

Arms & Armor:
We found our Knights in “Shining” Armor.
At a museum (:

Modern Art:
We got to see works by Picasso and Van Gogh (:
Yarh. We don’t know how to really appreciate them.
But it was interesting and oh-so-cool.

When I look at the paintings, I’m just fascinated by the colours the artists use.
Like, there are so many colours on a palette.
How do they choose?
This painting titled "black iris" is really nice.
Go figure why it's black.

A colourful one by picasso.
:)

I think I can do this.
I was thinking this when some lady said the same thing too.
Haha.

the cute one.
looking right at you ;)

Ooh, this is by Jackson Pollock.
Some issue regarding one of his works appeared in Lifestyle, Straits Times sometime back.
So cool to be actually looking at one of his works right before us :)

Gina’s favourites :)

Drawings, Prints and Photographs:
It was interesting to know that illustrations in children’s books are works of art too.
That made me feel like collecting a whole bunch of children’s books.
Those with nice drawings (:

This is etching. We learnt this in secondary school art.
These are pretty complex works though.

And this form of art, my dear lit friends, is called Chiaroscuro.
Bold black lines with dual lighter tones.

This is to depict the “fall of man”
That’s what the words at the top of the picture say.
Adam and Eve succumbing to sexual desires.
Representing the beginning of the downfall of men as we Sin.

Then we moved on to Asian Art.
We saw the statues of some Indian Gods.
Rather cool.

Well, we were pretty beat by the end of it all.
But we still treasure every single day (:
