:)

We are pretty tired now.
Cos Gina and I woke up early.
Had only 6 hrs of sleep.
Why?
Course we are Vain.
Haha, we woke up early just to do Manicure and Pedicure.
Much cheaper here.
According to Gina.

Wah, first time feeling so pampered (:
U just have to sit there.
They massage and scrub your legs.
Then apply the nail polish.
Really just do Nothing :)

But not having enough sleep left us pretty beat the entire day.
But, Once again, we went shopping (:
Went back to Manhatten Mall cause we didn't finish looking at the shops there yesterday.
Haha, didn't buy much today.
But still bought something ;)

Well, really tired already.
And we won't be blogging and updating the next few days course we will be heading to Disney World in Florida (:
We will when we come back though (:
Can't wait for all the exciting Stuff ;)

Well, there's only one bar of connection left on my com.
SO i can't upload the photos we took today.
Well, will mass upload loads of photos another time ok?

Hello To my Family (:

2 wks 1 day. And Still Very Excited! =)

Finally went to see one of the main highlights of New York today!
The Brooklyn Bridge.
It was really really very beautiful…
We were like all so amazed at the marvelous work of the engineers.
Its like..its one of the oldest suspension bridge in the United States!
And it was the first ever suspension bridge!
Impressive huh.
And we got to see it with our own eyes =)
We walked abt half the bridge and decided to go shopping next.

So, we went to check out the Manhattan Mall.
The mall that we were supposed to check out yesterday but failed to.
Haha.
Man. We shld have visited this mall earlier on man.
Its like Mel recalled our tour guide saying that this mall is one of the biggest in New York!
And man. Theres like so many gd places to shop at inside this mall!
Its really awesome!
We didn’t have much time and so we only shopped at like 2 shops and already,
We bought like a thousand and one items man…
Imagine if we had the whole day or smth…
I bet we’ll return home with a million items man…
Haha..okay..thats just a slight exaggeration..

Ohhh..this is something damn cool.
We had dinner at their food court.
And u know, their food court is like so different from those in S’pore!
The food court here consists of like various fastfood stores!
So its like Subway, and more of these kinda of fastfood stores..
(Neither Mel nor me can remember any more names)

And thennnnnn….
We watched another broadway!!
The Producers.
Highly recommended by my bro…
‘This is what drama is all abt!’ (Exact quoting from my bro)
Haha..and it truly is.
Cld see that all 3 of us really enjoyed it.
It was as very different experience from watching the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ show.
Beauty and the Beast was more of like entertaining and stuff..
But The Producers was more of like content based…a comedy…
Damn funny…
I specifically liked the ‘gay scene’
Uber funny!!
If you were right here with me now..ill definitely re-enact for u to see man…
Its super funny can…

Ohh another interesting thing.
It rained today.
I heard that its been raining really heavily in S’pore now…
But here, its usually just cold weather.
But today. It RAINED!
WOW. Rather rare in New York during this period when we’re here man.
Heehee. Okay that’s rather random actually.

Ps. Counting down to our Disney World trip! =)

Our most fruitful day! =)

Our day started off really late again.
Note ’again’.
Haha.
We, or rather I woke up at like almost 12pm!!!!!
Can u believe that!!!!!
Maybe it might be the most usual for some people.
But definitely not for me!
In S’pore, I would have gotten up by 8!
Guess its just too comfy here….heeeee

Wanted to check out Manhattan Mall today.
But. But.
Haha…alighted at the wrong stop and ended up at Union Square instead.
And Lynn told us before that theres quite a lot to shop at union Square.
So we decided to just check it out!

When my bro visited us,
he kept telling us to try the roadside stores..
which is quite a common thing in New York.
They sell all sorts of things..
Bagels. Honey Roasted Nuts. Hot Dogs. Kebabs.
And we tried the Kebabs!
They rock!
Its like some barbequed meat in those hot dog buns...
Yums Yums =)
Just look at my sis's delighted face.

We saw the shop Forever21 and decided that shall be our first stop!
And guess what..
We never expected that that will be our first and last place to shop!
We got into the shop when it was still bright day light.
And by the time we got out, it was Pitch Dark!!
Haha..
We didn’t even realize that we shopped at just one shop for almost 5 hrs!!!
But it was all worth the while!!
We each bought like 5 items each!!
Which is rather a lot considering how picky the both of us are!

Went to Times Square for dinner!
I just lurve Times Square!!
Its really pretty!
All the buildings…advertisements…people…broadway theatres…
Seeing this place..it really feels like the city that never sleeps!
Its just so lively..so happening!!
I simply love it! =)

We ate at another really really cool place!
Its called ‘Apple Bee’
First heard of it when my bro mentioned it.
He was supposed to bring us there to eat actually…but didn’t in the end.
So we decided to try it on our own.
And my aunt, Agnes, joined us too!
In total, we ordered a Potato Boat, Apple’s Ribleys, Grilled Brick Chicken, Fish and Chips,
Haha the list hasn’t ended yet…
And last of all, a plate of Hot Sizzling Apple Pie for dessert!!
=D
It was heavenly!!
It was Finger Licking Good!!
Its was really really YUMMMY.
Okok..i know you got my point already. Haha

And then, Home Sweet Home!

Ps. I Just So Lurve My Life Now! =))

Purple Bliss (:

And I just love love love what we did today.
We went to MoMA.
Manhattan Museum of Modern Art ;)
One of the places I could only dream of going after watching an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Now, one of my dreams has come true (:
One word to sum up the place?
Cool. Damn Cool.

We just spent our entire afternoon there.
This time round, we could understand the artworks better because we rented some commentary device.
So there were certain sculptures or paintings that we could stop at, admire, and hear the commentary simultaneously.

We headed to the Contemporary Art section first.
Do you know?
They change the art pieces there at least once every year.
Because it is Contemporary Art.
Haha.
So the art pieces can only stay Contemporarily.
It’s that literal.

Let me just share some of the interesting stuff we saw.
Remember Jackson Pollock?
Saw his artwork at the Metropolitan museum too.
Well, these here are by him as well.
He is fond of just using bold lines.
And instead of using an easel, he prefers to put his canvases on the floor or the wall as he paints.
Or splash rather.
Pretty bold stuff he does.
Rather interesting (:

Ohh! And at the contemporary art section, I saw my favourite (:
It’s a collection piece entitled “From Here I Saw What Happened and I Cried”
By Carrie Mae Weems.
She did the collection to showcase the plight of African Americans back then.
Try to read the words on the pictures.
Very very interesting :)

Gina’a favourite is this somewhat spooky film by Eija-Liisa Ahtila, entitled “The Wind”.
Its really damn cool can.
Its like there are 3 videos shown concurrently.
Each showing different images.
Disjointed pictures.
Its like for example,
One will be showing the lady cutting up cloth
The other showing her totally messed up apartment.
And the last showing another messed up corner of her apartment.
Its really damn eerie man…
Very disturbing.
Its really -madness-
Haha, that was Gina typing by the way.

We saw another video at the Contemporary Art section.
It was Beautiful yet Disturbing.
The Sublime.
Haha. It showed a young lady, wearing a sundress and all.
Very proper, carrying a flower like stick.
She was just walking down a lane.
With her hair flowing in the wind, not caring about the world.
But when she walked pass a car, she suddenly used the stick to smash its windows.
And then the music is interrupted by the sound of glass shattering.
I recorded this video.
But since I don’t know how to upload videos.
I can’t show you guys!
I really like this particular video (:
Eerie.

These are some more works by Pablo Picasso.
:)

And Vincent Van Gogh’s famous, “Starry Night”.

Pop art!
Famous works by the artist Andy Warhol.
Famous for his pop art works.
I actually got to see them right before my eyes.
After being shown some photos by my secondary school art teacher.
And gothic literature teacher.
(:

I can’t remember who did this.
But remember this?
(*to my classmates)
We were shown this picture during one of our lit periods.

I thought this was really interesting too.
A soft sculpture.
Cause sculptures are usually solid hard right.
But this one is different.
It’s a soft sculpture of a phone.
Perhaps depicting the decline of domestic phones replaced by the fast emergence of cellular phones.
Haha, soon, every household will not have any common home phone.
Everyone will just call each other’s hand phone.
But, that’s only my interpretation ;)

Ohh! And there’s this one.
A cup covered with fur.
You know how irritating it is when a strand of hair gets into your mouth right.
You will just get so engrossed with taking it out of your mouth; you stop talking and just maybe forget about what you were talking about altogether.
So, according to the commentary, the artist was trying to depict a tea party, which didn’t involve talking.
Which, defeats the purpose of having a tea party actually.
Interesting stuff huhh?

And we actually got to see the artwork “The Persistence of Memory” by Salvador Dali.
I thought it was going to be a reasonably sized potrait.
But no. It was puny.
Haha, so funny to say PUNY after being overwhelmed the entire trip by HUMONGOUS stuff.
Other than appreciating the melted clocks.
I was wondering to myself.
It was so puny, yet he was able to capture soo many details in this portrait!
Brilliant you know.
Can u imagine how small his paintbrush must be?
Even punnier than the puny.
Haha.

It was really exciting for us to view works of famous artists right before our very eyes (:
A memory we will keep and defnitely treasure for a lifetime :)

I couldn’t leave MoMA without a souvenir.
So I got this!
I will keep it with the rest of my Mugs (:

So, after it closed at 5.30pm, we headed to Chinatown to have our dinner.
Gina and I were craving for porridge.
And Joey wanted to have Fried Rice.
In the end, we were so hungry, we just settled for a convenient diner.
Gina had Roast Duck Rice.
Joey had Roast Pork Lo Mien.
And I had Roast Pork and Chicken Rice.

(: MoMA.
I was living a dream.

Simple and Nice (:

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves today (:
The day started off on a high.
Why?
Cause we found a RAT in Agnes's house.
I think it’s because we brought too much tidbits and goodies over.
Haha. 3 bags is A LOT right.

Gina saw its tail in the goodies cabinet.
And she Screamed. Ok, Shrieked. Haha.
After she told me, I was damn scared.
The thought of a rat just scares me.
So I kinda squatted on a chair in case it ran out or something.
Haha.

So, after catching our breaths, we thought all was fine.
But, No.
I, out of all people, have to witness it run across the hall, and out the main door.
I Screamed of course. Then jumped onto Agnes’s Bed.
Then Gina screamed too. And ran to a Chair.
Joey was all Cool and Calm. Haha.
But I have a feeling it’s because she was already sitting on a chair.

We were supposed to leave the house already, but Gina and I were too scared.
Scared that the rat might run across our feet or something.
Haha. We even asked Joey is she would like to piggyback us to the entrance.
So, after a mentally grueling 10mins, we finally got over our fear and got out of the apartment.

Well, we headed to the pharmacy first.
Cause Joey had to get some necessities.
Gina got a GLAMOUR magazine.
And I was just enticed with my favourite (:

Some self-portraits we took on the Subway on our way to Central Park (:
These are specially for our parents.
Who just want to see more photos of us.
So hang in there our friends. Haha.
By the way, we didn’t stupidly wear sun glasses indoors.
We were just too lazy to remove them after putting them on, on our way to the Subway.
And we needed them anyway, at Central Park.

Our next stop was Central Park (:
The place is simply BEAUTIFUL.
No on goes there to get stress. Let’s put it that way.
It’s like this one huge huge park in the midst of office buildings.
The view was just Splendid.
Look at the photos and u know what I mean.
Say, “Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaooooooooooooooo!”
It’s all u imagine a park to be, and then more.
You hear Birds Chirping & Children’s Laughter.
See Squirrels Chewing on acorns and Families Playing American football.
Everything we came across just adds on to the wonder of Central Park (:

Haha. Squirrels.
So uncommon in Singapore yet SO common here.
Our amazement with squirrels is soon dying out. Haha.
(Joey is still very amazed with them though. Always the one spotting squirrels around.)
At Central Park we saw like Communities of them.
I even took a video of 3 in 1.
There was even a Black Squirrel!
Rarest of the Rare.
Haha. Sounds wrong.
So what.

We also saw Horses.
Pulling carriages.
Being the animal lover she is, Gina was sympathizing with the horses.
I was just admiring them. And their huge size.
One horse is like, 2 heads taller than us.
And that’s their body only okay.
Cool ;)

At Central Park, we saw a Playground.
And I just had to play the Swing.
My ultimate favourite.
It was super cold. The weather today was Super Duper cold.
And the swing made it worse.
With the freezing wind blowing into our faces.
And our bare hands gripping the chilled metal bars.
I thought my face was going to crack any minute.
And Gina felt her lips were going to fall off.
Can u Imagine that?
But it was FUN (:

There was a slide there too.
And it was super steep.
So quite Scary.
But we tried it anyway.
FUN (:

Then we moved on to try the tyre swing.
Joey’s idea. (Haha, yarh. Gina and I didn’t really want to try it at first.)
At first we couldn’t figure out how to move the tyre with 3 people on it.
So we found our own method by taking turns.
2 at a time. With the 3rd person taking photos and pushing the other 2.
It was loads of fun (:
Hehe.

Ohh! And we tried this special swing.
It is actually a swing for the handicapped.
It is like a normal swing, except it has a proper chair instead of a plank of wood.
I don’t think we have swings for the handicapped in Singapore.
Maybe we should have one.
No wait.
Actually, I think all swings should be like that.
User-friendly. Haha.
Seriously, it’s the best kind of swing the 3 of us have ever “swinged” on.
It’s so Comfortable.

Don’t we sound just like some Toddlers.
Still fascinated with the world.
The world of Playground.
Haha.

Well, it was so cold.
We thought some Hot Dogs would warm us up a little.
So we each had one.
With ketchup and Mustard.
Yummy.
So simple, yet it was the best thing to eat in the world at that point of time.

Well, the same guy who sold us the Hot Dogs sold Ice Cream too.
We thought it was kind of cute.
So here’s it.
He sold like so many Exotic Ice Creams.
We were kinda tempted.
Mann. If not for the Chilly weather.
Haha.

We tried finding a spot to relax.
You know, to read stuff, listen to music, enjoy the scenery.
But it was too Cold.
The wind was really strong today.
So we decided to head to Starbucks to have a cup of Hot something.
We finally found one nearby.
Starbucks is simply SO convenient to find here in New York.
It’s like, 7/11 in Singapore.

Gina and Joey both had a Hot Chocolate.
While I had a Peppermint Hot Chocolate.
Yumm Yumm I tell you.

And you know what?
Nothing in the world at that point of time beats:
Sitting in a warm Starbucks while its freezing cold outside.
Drinking a cup of Peppermint Hot Chocolate.
Reading an Oprah magazine.
Listening to Corrine Bailey Rae.
Watching people walking by.
And being with Gina and Joey.

Gina was reading Glamour magazine.
While Joey was reading a fantasy book she got from a thrift shop just outside Agnes’s house.
I’m sure the both of them were enjoying the time at Starbucks as much as I was.
So simple, yet nice (:

After that, we headed to Broadway (:
We took the Subway.
We are now so accustomed to it. I think we are experts already ;)
And I tell you.
Broadway is damn cool.
It’s like a juxtaposition of Central Park.
We saw HUGE billboards. Lighted ones even.
Many advertised Broadway shows.
Some advertised Clothes and Departmental Stores.
The sight was simply captivating.
The Lights, the People, the Shops.
Everything Single Thing.

Broadway is like this entire area (not just a stretch of street), filled with theatres.
They are not all next to one another.
There’s the Lyceum Theater, Marquis Theater, Belasco Theater, Duffy Theater, and many many more.
And in between there are Shops, Diners and several Hotels.
The one where we watched Beauty and the Beast was at the Lunt Fontaine Theater.
The interior was just as ultra cool as the sight of its exterior made it out to be.

Beauty and the Beast.
Never loved the show so much before.
We were so excited the entire day.
Every moment, we were looking forward to watching the musical.
Joey loved the various settings and props.
Gina loved the lights and colours.
I fell in love with their voices.
In short, the whole musical was Perfect.
We clapped enthusiastically after every song they sang.
And there was a standing ovation at the end too.
We weren’t allowed to take any photos actually.
But I managed to take a few.
Beautiful (:

Experiencing a musical at Broadway just makes the entire experience more magical.
I don’t know how.
It just has that effect.
It’s just different from watching one at the Esplanade, or the Indoor Stadium.
You get what I mean?

Again.
Another beautiful day in New York.
Just feeling so happy and fortunate every single day (:
